TUA'S STRENGTHENED MEDICAL-DENTAL WORKFORCE by Medical & Dental Clinics

The Medical and Dental Clinic today enhances the quality of service offered to all Trinitians by adding on new and refreshing faces as part of the major restructuring program of the healthcare services within the university.

The Medical Clinic has appointed a new physician, Dr. Jonalyn Mendez, to adequately attend to the needs of the staff, faculty and students by complimenting the work of the clinic's existing physician, Dr. Jose Carpena.

Likewise, the clinic has two new nursing staffs: Ms. Marlene Benigno, who is assigned in the morning shift (7:00 am - 4:00 pm) and Mr. Francis Regalado who is assigned in the late-afternoon period (2:00 pm - 9:00 pm). Mr. Regalado also attends to the clinic's clients on Saturdays (7:00 am - 12:00 nn). Ms. Mary Ellien Velvez still mans the clinic at the Elementary School from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm on weekdays.

The clinic has different medicines ready for dispensing, whenever needed, to alleviate common illnesses occurring during school hours. Aside from this, the clinic's equipment are constantly being upgraded to better serve the Trinitian community. Ms. Benigno and Mr. Regalado can easily provide first aid treatment during accidents as both nurses underwent training for Basic Life Support and First Aid Management under the Philippine National Red Cross.

Fulltime school dentist, Dr. James Olayvar, still heads both the Basic Education and the College Dental Clinics, which both are equipped for handling dental services like consultations and examinations, oral prophylaxis, temporary filling, extractions and emergency treatments. Aforementioned services can be availed of free-of-charge by both students and employees. Dr. Olayvar is assisted by Ms. Ma. Imelda Peñaranda, dental aide and dental clinic secretary.

The Trinity University of Asia College Medical and Dental Clinics are temporarily housed inside the Henry Noble Gymnasium. In a year or two, said clinics will be permanently transferred to a 7-storey building, which will house the different student services units of Medical and Dental Clinic, Chaplain’s Office, Office of Student Affairs and other student service units.

Both the medical and dental teams are headed by the University's Medical Director, Dr. Bienvenido Gaddi, who has managed the Clinics for 35 years. Under his supervision, the teams are continuously finding ways to offer the best health assistance to the school's students and employees.

All in all, our goal is to present a genuine and the best feasible care all the Trinitians deserve. Our mission and vision is still the same, to give every student and member of the staff the opportunity to build and maintain good health in order that he may enjoy the benefits of his academic life and perform to his optimum capacity.
